Huddersfield Town have done it again, lost a game that they really needed to win or at the very least draw, against a side whose form has been so poor, the goal that clinched the game was the first that Gillingham have scored on their home ground this year.
Admittedly it was a dubious penalty, which was awarded when ex-Town player Delroy Facey was judged to have been fouled by Clarke in the area, allowing Gillinghams Adam Miller to score from the penalty spot in the 88th minute.
Town now slip down the table to 14th place, 8 points form the drop and now 9 points from the play-offs.
Next up - league leaders Swansea at the Galpharm next Saturday.
In my view any lingering hopes of reaching the play offs died in the 88th minutes of the game today, but in truth they had died in many poor performances before this.
The fans ever positive optimism the main factor in keeping the dream alive
Poor performances against Gillngham themselves at the Galpharm, Northampton likewise. Southend and Leeds, Nottingham Forest, Tranmere, Walsall and more on the road have been the real culprits.
That said, I would not put it past this most inconsistent and at times infuriating team to win against runaway League leaders Swansea next week. After all the terriers did win 1-0 in South Wales in November.
Let us have your views, on yet another disappointing day.
Is 14th place acceptable really as far as you are concerned.
Maybe you think the team is where it should be ability wise.
Andy Ritchie a genius and the team all heroes being given a bad press.
