It is at times like these, on an early evening Saturday in late February, reflecting on the second defeat on the bounce for a lackluster Huddersfield Town side, who have turned fortress Galpharm into a stadium built of straw, that this terrier starts to wonder just why he invests so much time, emotion and energy into supporting the club ?
Another seasons hopes effectively dashed ten weeks or more before the season is acrtually over, by the latest defeat 1-0 at home to Swansea, will see the club not involved in the promotion or play off tussle, and another season in FL1 beckons in August, unless of course form totally collapses and we are pushed into a relegation fight, ... please no !
Then as always happens, I remember why.
It's a love of the game of football, a love of the club, and a love of the Town of Huddersfield.
Football fans, Huddersfield ones at any rate put up with a lot of disapointment, heartache, and in some cases ridicule for continuing their passion.
I suspect like many terriers, I will not be abandoning the club and expectations, and hopes will soon once again be high.
I just hope the players, club and management appreciate the loyalty of many Huddersfield fans at times like this.
Ken Davy and Andy Ritchie need to do better, the club with its tremendous past, proportionally for the size of the Towns population, tremendous support, and a new Stadium that was the miniature design model for the new Wembley, deserve better.
Promotion next season then !
