Huddersfield, Striking options

Huddersfield Town will be without striker Phil Jevons for at least a couple of weeks due to the torn calf muscle he got in Tuesday's defeat at Hartlepool after only 11 minutes of that game

Manager Andy Ritchie told the club htafc.com

'It's a real sickener both for Phil and the team and it compounds what was a miserable Tuesday evening.

Over the last six weeks, Andy Ritchie has talked about almost daily but never quite actually secured a loan striker.

Fellow striker and new current holder of the sicknote nickname, Danny Cadamarteri is due to see a specialist about his knee injury next week, so options for Saturday's visit of Southend and beyond are limited.

'I'm quite prepared to play Luke Beckett and Andy Booth up front together even though, as everyone knows, I am not a great fan of that partnership as I feel they are quite similar players,' Ritchie reiterated.

'We also have the option of sticking Malvin Kamara up front to give us that pace, but I'm not sure we should disrupt him considering how well he's doing on the right wing at the moment.'

'Danny Schofield will be there or thereabouts come Saturday, which gives us another option,' said Ritchie.

Their you have them, the thoughts of our Manager on how to resolve the issue.

Looks like he may either go for a pairing he has resisted all season, in Booth & Beckett.
Or more likely play Booth or Beckett with Kamara who is really not suited to the position at all, or Schofield who actually doesn't want to play in any position for the club.

Yes, the life of a football manager, its tough, decisions, decisions.

Of course he could, though he won't, or hasn't thought of it yet play the best emergency striker we have at the club who every time he has played the role has scored or assisted, Chris Brandon.

Anyone remember Rotherham away last season to name one occasion.

The Booth and Beckett option providing two quality strikers, is my preference.

Let's not forget the prime purpose of a striker is to score goals, and these two have the most again this season of all our players.

Failing that I would use Brandon pushing up if one of those two is substituted.

Which is probably why it won't happen.

But less of my thoughts and those of the wolly hat, what do you think ?

He might go for just one up front, Booth or Beckett, and two wide players pushing up down the flanks, with a five man midfield.

I belive Booth and Mirf should be up frount. both strong and good at heading. Also mirf has a bit of pace
Gaulty17
He might play 4-4-1-1 with one of the central mids playing further up. Mirfin up front is too desperate for me !
Eddie01
just makes this crap depressing season worse, at least its a chance for B&B to prove to AR that they can play together

Dont get it, why some fans have such a go at Brandon, he is a fully commited player, who rarely lets the team down, and he can play wide, right, left or central in midfield, or as a an emergency striker, come attacking midfielder. TF82 is right Brando was superb playing that role before.
Galpharm
linkys not going to be at the shoutbox on saturday he'll be at the galpharm, probably booing at the final whistle

Gaulty 17..Brave man..There again why not..!!..??? Mirf can,and has scored goals up front, whats to say he's going to be any worse than a loan import ...The lads not in the 1st 11 at the moment, and therefore his being up front is not going to disrupt/affect any other player/possitions...Not the first time a central defender has adapted sucessfully fron central defence to forward..Might work..!!!Worth a try...!!!
