Huddersfield Genius Gerry, carry on

Huddersfield Town 1 Tranmere Rovers 0

Caretaker Manager Gerry Murphy made some enforced changes to the terriers side which faced Leeds United on tuesday evening, before the game against Tranmere Rovers at the Galpharm this afternoon.

He continues to favour the youngsters that he knows so well, through his brilliant work at the Academy.

Malvin Kamara replaced the injured and very much in form Chris Brandon (hamstring), Tom Clarke took over from the suspended former skipper Jonathan Worthington, while Joe Skarz was recalled in place of James Berrett, who failed a fitness test on his knee.

In a scrappy first half the sides went in at 0-0, but veteran Andy Booth grabbed the winner just after the hour mark.

That is now two wins and two draws for the Murphy inspired terriers and a massive improvement in the clubs form and fortunes since the hopeless Andy Ritchie was removed.

Chairman Ken Davy and Chairman elect Dean Hoyle must be wishing they had taken action to replace Ritchie sooner, its obvious from the recent results that with the right leadership this squad can acheive promotion.

Even with the play offs not acheivable the team is playing with newfound enthusiasm and passion, and their is a buzz of anticipation around the club.

Gerry Murphy. He already knows the players. He already knows the younger players and how ready they are to come into the full team. Don't make the mistake dennis wise made at leeds. He kept playing "the experienced players". Relegation was inevitable. Get some youth in the team and as long as the balance of youth and experience is right, you get results. Gerry Murphy seems to know that. I think he's the best man for the job. He's already provided evidence of what he can do.
