The Huddersfield Town circus has come to town, and the merry go round is in full swing.
Ringmasters coco and jeppo are orchestrating procedings and it is entertaining viewing.
Widely quoted from various sources today.
It looks as though released Danny schofield will be as everyone predicted signing for Yeovil Town, the club that tried to sign him twelve months ago. Towns Phil Jevons formerly of Yeovil, confirming that Schofield had asked him about the West Country outfit, and what he could expect.
Adding 'Danny`s situation has been well documented, and it`s not so much a new club he`s after as a life change, which is what he`ll get."
We wish Danny Schofield well.
Chris Brandon has spoken out about his departure, in what seems to be thinly veiled criticism of Stan Ternent
'I`ve been left in limbo a little bit as Gerry Murphy wanted to keep me at Huddersfield but the new manager has come in and made his decision, even though he`s never seen me play."
"My agent has been contacted by about a dozen clubs, so we`ll just have to wait and see what happens."
Good luck to Chris Brandon too, he has left a season too early in my view, and will have no problems picking up a new club, its rumoured that hometown Bradford could well get his signature, which would be a great signing for our West Yorkshire neighbours.
It is looking like Stan Ternent is hoping to bring back defender Chris Lucketti to the club now that he has regretable lost the services of the tremendous Rob Page.
The veteran centre back, who has recently been on loan to Southampton from Sheffield United, is out of contract this summer.
Lucketti has of course played under Ternent at Bury in the 1990s and for Town between 1999 and 2001, signed by Steve Bruce playing 69 league games for Town.
He was sold to Preston in August 2001, after the 'team fantastic' Bruce built was dismantled after his departure.
Lucketti was then one of the best centre halves we had had at Huddersfield, but now at 36 years of age, three older than Page he is surely past his glory days.
I fear this could be the start of a repeat run of what Ternent started and laterly Jepson continued at Gillingham, in buying up veteran players from other clubs.
A policy that saw Jepson succeding Ternent, both unsuccessfully managing the club, Jepson taking Gillingham to the foot of FL1 this season and ultimately like his predecessor then had to leave the club.
Finally for now it is being widely rumoured that Town's top scorer Luke Beckett is also like Brandon expected to sign for rivals Bradford City.
His old club, Stockport County are also keen to bring the old favourite back, and as County are in the FL2 play offs and strongly fancied for promotion, we could see him again next year scoring against us.
Luke has a year left on his contract with the Terriers but has been allowed by Ternent to have talks with Bradford this week.
Beckett has been top scorer for Town in the last two seasons, 15 in 2006/07 and 12 this season. Beckett has made 77 appearances for Town scoring 23 league goals.
It must also be remembered that for large parts of both these seasons he was on the bench for reasons best known to the management. Indeed he has come off the bench to play on twenty three occasions, scoring on many of them.
Whilst change is undoubtedly needed in the playing staff.
One does have to ask how many clubs actively seek to sell their top striker of the last two season, never mind not being able to agree a new contract, actually wanting to sell their top scorer, of not one but two seasons running, and hes only been with us two full seasons.
Not many, but then again it is all change at the Galpharm and a laugh a minute at the summer circus.
I thought Dean Hoyle had said the Marcus Stewart situation or anything like it would never happen again at the club, well this has some similarities in my book, although is not of the same magnitude of stupidity as that decision was.
