HTFC - Smithies Offered Prem Wages

Huddersfield Town have today made a renewed contract offer to keep highly rated Alex Smithies at the club.

Smithies has of course replaced Matt Glennon in the first team of late and has put in some impressive displays keeping 6 clean sheets so far.

He also recieved his first call up for England-U19'sand made his debut in a 3-0 defeat to Spain at Bournemouth's Dean Court.

Smithies who is currently being chased by Premiership clubs such as Chelsea, Tottenham and Sunderland certainly has a bright fur=ture ahead of him.

Lee Clark certainly thinks so and he told the club's official website:-

'Alex has our contract offer now and he will have seen it with his family and his agent,'

'We are waiting for a response back now, but I will say is that with the backing of the chairman-elect Dean Hoyle and chief executive Nigel Clibbens we have made what I consider to be a Premiership contract offer to an 18-year-old goalkeeper.

'We are trying everything that we possibly can to persuade Alex Smithies to stay at Huddersfield Town Football Club but as I have said before he will eventually end up at the highest level and we know the lad will have ambition to play at the top of the game.

'I believe he can get there with Huddersfield, but it is his decision

If he decides to go, there will be no fall-out between me and him as it will be a professional decision but we are trying our very best to keep him at this football club for the next two, three or four years.'

So will he stay or go?

What do you think?

why do we have to get keepers who wont accept contracts and always want more?
Impact
because they are either brilliant, like Smithies, or greedy and crap, like someone we might know =] lol

"because they are either brilliant, like Smithies, or greedy and crap, like someone we might know =] lol" Once again not being fair. they are both in the same situation - the best keepers int he squad at the time of their contract negotiations. But really, smithies is worse because we gave him what he wanted and he rejected that. If he wants to further his career, he has to stay and play 1st team football, and not sit on a bench in the prem. Also, have you seen the sunderland interest? They want to take him but already have 5 keepers!!!
Impact
lol...Greedy players.!!!..More like greedy agents who are out to parasite from nieve players, and line their own pockets regardless of the best interests of the players on their books...Ive said it before and ill say it again..Get all the agents, line them all up against a wall and shoot the lot of them...Football would be a lot healthier industry without tham..PARASITES..
