Huddersfield Town have today made a renewed contract offer to keep highly rated Alex Smithies at the club.
Smithies has of course replaced Matt Glennon in the first team of late and has put in some impressive displays keeping 6 clean sheets so far.
He also recieved his first call up for England-U19'sand made his debut in a 3-0 defeat to Spain at Bournemouth's Dean Court.
Smithies who is currently being chased by Premiership clubs such as Chelsea, Tottenham and Sunderland certainly has a bright fur=ture ahead of him.
Lee Clark certainly thinks so and he told the club's official website:-
'Alex has our contract offer now and he will have seen it with his family and his agent,'
'We are waiting for a response back now, but I will say is that with the backing of the chairman-elect Dean Hoyle and chief executive Nigel Clibbens we have made what I consider to be a Premiership contract offer to an 18-year-old goalkeeper.
'We are trying everything that we possibly can to persuade Alex Smithies to stay at Huddersfield Town Football Club but as I have said before he will eventually end up at the highest level and we know the lad will have ambition to play at the top of the game.
'I believe he can get there with Huddersfield, but it is his decision
If he decides to go, there will be no fall-out between me and him as it will be a professional decision but we are trying our very best to keep him at this football club for the next two, three or four years.'
So will he stay or go?
What do you think?
