The news coming from the Town camp is not good this evening as Lee Clark licks his wounds following a narrow 1-0 defeat at Swindon
Town were dealt a blow early on as Gary Roberts went down injured after only 15 minutes, and it has been revealed that the silky winger has suffered a broken arm.
The popular scouser has been in fine form for Town this season and had started todays game brightly, Roberts will be assessed at the hospital but manager Clark confirmed he will be out for some time.
And to add further insult to injury Scott Arfield also picked up a knock in the same passage of play, that saw him forced off at half time!!
Speaking to the official site manager Clark commented:-
'The two injuries were massively disruptive, because they have been two of the better players for me. Gary Roberts has been the best player on a consistent basis for the last four or five games and he was causing problems in the short spell he was on the pitch.
'It's a very serious injury and he's in hospital as we speak. He's broken his arm badly in a high area and the specialists are looking at it - whether it needs surgery or just pinning we don't know at the minute, but he will be out for a period of time.
'At half-time Scott told me he couldn't carry on because of the kick he took just before Gary's incident; that had made his calf too tight and he couldn't move around.
'To be fair to the ref he apologised at half-time. I said at the time that Gary wouldn't have got his injury if the ref had blown when Scott was fouled; there was no advantage on because one of their players was close enough to tackle our man and as soon as Scott got fouled he should have blown up. But full credit to the ref - he came out and apologised and I appreciate that. However, that doesn't mask over the fact that I've lost one of my best players for a period of time.
So best wishes to Gary, he certainly will be missed from the side.
