HTFC - Smithies withdraws from England-U21 squad
ALEX SMITHIES is back at Huddersfield Town after withdrawing from the England Under 21 squad with a knee injury.
The Terriers number 1 had been hoping for a first cap against Denmark on Thursday or Iceland next Monday.
This isn't the first time Smithies has had to withdraw from the England squad, and Town fans and manager Lee Clark will be hoping the stopper is fit to face Notts County in Sunday's televised league one clash.
Should he be unable to make it, veteran Ian Bennett will be on standby to regain the starting slot.
Personally I expect Smithies will be fit to face County but if he isn't we all know that Bennett has proven that he is more than an able deputy.
