JAMIE McCombe's loan spell at Preston is official over after his deal expired following their 1-1 draw with Rochdale.
McCombe didn't feature for Preston in his final day on loan and there doesn't seem to be any reason for his absence - lets hope its not an injury.
McCombe who turned 29-years-old on New Year's Day will now re-join the Huddersfield squad ahead of their live televised game on Sky Sports against Wycombe on Friday 6 Jan; 19:45.
McCombe did speak to the Preston official site during his stay in Lancashire:-
'I have really enjoyed my time at Preston'
'The fans and the people at the Club have been fantastic with me since I arrived last month.
'Preston will be a Club that I can proudly say I have played for when I look back on my career and hopefully I will have played a part in getting Preston into the Play-Offs.'
Perhaps he is trying to talk himself into a transfer window move as he went on to talk about the confusion surrounding the recall that never was:-
'I didn't know very much about the decision to be honest.
'I received a phone call saying I was going back to Huddersfield then the next morning I got a call saying I was staying at Preston.
'It is one of those things, I have signed with Preston until 2nd January so I was more than happy to stay.
'Like I have said, I have really enjoyed my time at Preston, ultimately I am a Huddersfield Town player but I love playing football.'
McCombe could potentially walk straight back into the Town backline following a few poor showings defensively of late.
Many comment that the defence at Town has got weaker since McCombe himself fell out of favour following a silly dismissal earlier this season.
One thing for sure is that Jamie McCombe is not the answer to our problems, we all know he is not the most mobile but he certainly has a good aerial presence.
Lets hope that Lee Clark pulls his finger out and we get some solid defenders in to join McCombe and co this week.
