Ridehalgh - Joins Chesterfield on Loan

Liam Ridehalgh has left Huddersfield to team up with League One strugglers Chesterfield on loan for the remainder of the season.

The 20-year-old was recently recalled from his spell at Swindon, where he made 13 appearances and had expressed a desire to remain with the Robins for the remainder of the season.

Town boss Lee Clark explained the rationale behind the move to the offical site, htafc.com:-

'Liam's loan spell at Swindon has helped him and he has come back to us an improved player, I just feel that it will benefit him even further to be back in League 1.

'Chesterfield have got a lot to play for coming into the second half of the season and this loan move will allow us to have a look at him over the rest of the campaign as he develops.

'He did well at Swindon and I think it's now important to get him back playing at a higher level again and kick on to become an important player for our first team in the future.'

So all in all a pretty sensible move, but arguably he would have been better off in a team vying for promotion rather than one suffering the agony of relegation.

I would have had him in our squad for the tough run in ahead.

Good Luck to Liam and to Chesterfield for the remainder of the season.

perhaps would have been better at Swindon where they are chasing promotion rather from league two than a relegation candidate from league one
