HTAFC:- Cherries snap up Donal McDermott

Donal McDermott has joined fellow league one side Bournemouth for an undisclosed fee.

The 22-year-old Irishman joined the Terriers this summer from Manchester City after he impressed last season for Bournemouth whilst on-loan, most notably against The Terriers in the play-offs these displays led Lee Clark to add the talented player to his Town squad.

McDermott, who featured heavily in pre-season, soon found himself down the pecking order and even with an injury crisis at Town he still failed to even make the bench.

Donal made 11 starts and three sub appearances for the Club - scoring a single goal.

The terms of the transfer stipulate that Donal cannot play against Huddersfield Town in npower League 1 or, if necessary, in the npower League 1 Play-Offs.

Huddersfield Town Manager Lee Clark commented on the clubs official website:-

'I would like to thank Donal for his effort during his time at Huddersfield Town - he's been a fantastic professional throughout his stay. However sometimes, for whatever reason, it just doesn't happen for a player at a Club.

'We have worked extremely hard with Donal on the training ground, and he has worked extremely hard too, but in the end this is a good move for everyone concerned. Donal knows Bournemouth well from his time there and I have no doubt that he will be a success for them.

'This move is the best for all parties. We have ended up making a bit of profit on him too in the end, so we have to move on now.'

So another player waved off from Huddersfield Town.

It would be fair to say Donal hasn't reached the level he is capable of but he hardly had a fair crack of the whip with just the 11 outings.

Rumour has it there was a difference of opinion hence why he failed to make the squad on numerous occasions despite the bench looking weak at times.

So another player who failed to get along with Lee Clark is leaving Town, the only bright point of this deal is that he can't play against us this season.

Good Luck Donal back at Bournemouth - It will be nice for you to be somewhere you are wanted by the management.
