THIRTEEN Games remain in Huddersfield Town's current League One season, with a potential 39 points up for grabs.
Let's have a look at the run in.
Tue 06 Hartlepool (H)
Sat 10 Rochdale (H)
Sat 17 Colchester (A)
Tue 20 Chesterfield (A)
Sat 24 Charlton (H)
Sat 31 Carlisle (A).
Tue 03 Leyton Orient (A)
Sat 07 Sheffield Wednesday (H)
Mon 09 Bournemouth (A)
Sat 14 Preston (A)
Sat 21 Scunthorpe (H)
Sat 28 Walsall (A)
Sat 05 Yeovil Town (H)
So just how many points are realistically going to be gained by The Terriers?
We would expect to pick up maximum points over the next two home games, and then with two away fixtures at re-surgent Colchester and Chesterfield, I would imagine we would collect 4 points - although 6 would be more than welcome!
Charlton are then the visitors to The Galpharm on the 24th of March, this will be a tough game and one in which Charlton could almost all but guarantee their own promotion. Town play well against the better sides and whilst it will be a tough game, with the crowd on their side, Town could turn this into a massive three points.
From here it's back on the road with successive away games, Carlisle is always a tough place to go, but Town have fared well there of late, I will be expecting a minimum of a draw. Then we are into April and travelling to Leyton Orient, where anything less than a win would have to be considered a poor result.
Sheffield Wednesday then come to The Galpharm, for a Yorkshire Derby, this could be a defining game, and one I expect fully to win. It's back to the road again - again successive away trips - starting at Bournemouth, now we all know how tough it is down there and a draw is the most likely result. Then onto Preston away, who have really failed miserably to make an impact this season - 3 points.
As we enter the final 3 games against Scunthorpe, Walsall & Yeovil - I would expect us to have picked up enough points to have re-claimed second by now - and these final 3 games on paper are all winnable.
Estimated final points haul 33 - which may be speculative on my part - with no defeats in the last 13 games - but it is something that is necessary. This would see us amass a total of 93 points which should be enough to see us achieve our aim of promotion this season. It's still 7 points off what Dean Hoyle set at the start of the season!!
