HTAFC:- Diego Arismendi joins on Loan from Stoke

Huddersfield Town have signed midfielder Diego Arismendi from Premier League outfit Stoke City on an Emergency Loan deal until May 31 2012.

The Uruguayan international signed for the Potters in August 2009 for a fee in the region of £2.6 Million pounds from Club Nacional where he had been named as the Player of the Year after helping them lift the Uruguayan League Title.

The 24-year-old has spent time out on loan from Stoke already having taken in spells at Brighton and the entire of last season on loan with Barnsley.

He scored one goal for Barnsley and that came against Simon Grayson's previous employers Leeds United, perhaps a goal that made Grayson take note of the talent this young man possesses.

Arismendi has featured for Stoke this season in their Europa League Campaign, making three appearances against Maccabi Tel Aviv, Besiktas and most recently he impressed against Spanish side Valencia.

Huddersfield Town Manager Simon Grayson commented:

'Diego has good experience and pedigree having played in the Championship with Barnsley and in the Europa League for Stoke this season.

He added: 'He is a very good addition to the squad and will add to the quality that we already have here. He is in the travelling squad that is heading to Colchester and is available for selection'

Stoke City Gaffer Tony Pulis also explained his thoughts on the move:-

'It's important now that Diego gets the chance to play games and we have been looking for an opportunity like this for him to show how far he has progressed,'

Diego will wear the number 20 shirt whilst with the Terriers.
