SEAN SCANNELL has today completed a move to Championship new boys Huddersfield Town.
The 21-year-old has signed a three year deal for an undisclosed fee and leaves Crystal Palac where he came through the ranks and made his debut in 2007.
The winger, who can also play up front, made 141 appearances for Palace and scored 13 goals since graduating from their academy in 2007.
The Republic of Ireland U-21 international, who has played at every level from U-17 upwards, will join subject to a medical at Huddersfield.
Scannell was subject to a bid from Huddersfield in January but that move ever materialised, and in fact Scannell signed fresh terms with Palace.
However Simon Grayson has swooped to net his first full-time capture as Huddersfield Town manager and he was understandably delighted, he spoke to htafc.com:-
'We are delighted to welcome Sean to the Club - he is a brilliant addition. We have been working hard on a number of targets and hopefully we will be able to get a few more tied up over the next couple of days,' said Simon.
'He is an exciting, young, talented footballer who is very adaptable. He can play on either wing or just off the striker - he offers great options.'
'Despite his young age he brings bags of experience at both Championship and International level and hopefully he will be able to fulfil his potential with us. It wasn't that long ago that a lot of top class clubs were taking a look at him so we are delighted to now have him amongst our ranks.'
Scannell comes with a few personal honours having won the Young Player of the Year award in 2008 and the Championship Apprentice of the Year in 2009.
Scannell made 41 appearances last season for Palace, scoring four times.
A welcome addition to the team.
