Huddersfield complete Joel Lynch deal

Huddersfield Town have signed Nottingham Forest defender Joel Lynch on a three-year deal.

The 24-year-old was out of contract at Forest and after failing to agree a new deal has made the switch to West Yorkshire despite rumoured interest from other Championship and Premier League sides.

Lynch becomes the 5th summer signing for Huddersfield joining fellow new recruits Sean Scannell, Paul Dixon, Oliver Norwood and Adam Clayton, as Town look to push on after securing promotion to the Championship just 7 weeks ago.

Lynch is a Welsh International, but has yet to make his debut. He was called up for their last friendly against Mexico but did not feature.

Happy at centre-back versatile Lynch can also cover the left-back berth.

The 6'1' tall Lynch joined Nottingham Forest for £200,000 from Brighton, where he made close to a 100 appearances, in 2008 and made a total of 90 appearances for Forest, 39 of those coming last season as Forest steered clear of relegation.

Simon Grayson was delighted with his 5th capture and told htafc.com exactly why:-

'This is a fantastic deal for the Club, because without going into too much detail around six to eight Championship and two Premier League clubs showed a very strong interest in Joel. We've had to be patient and we've worked very hard, but it's all worthwhile and we're delighted to have him here.

'Joel is a strong, athletic, left-sided centre half who can also play at left back. He's a good age and a great lad; he was a big influence in keeping Nottingham Forest up last season

The fact that he has chosen to come to us is evidence that people are really buying into what we're trying to do here; it's a real coup for Huddersfield Town.'

Lynch will take the number 33 shirt for this season, and will provide welcome competition at the heart of Town's defence.
