Alan Lee pens new one-year deal at Town

ALAN LEE has signed a new one-year contract with Huddersfield Town.

The former Republic of Ireland striker signed for Town from Crystal Palace in August 2010 and has made 76 appearances so far for The Terriers, scoring just 10 goals.

The 33-year-old had been linked with a move away this summer, despite the offer of a new contract, which many believe was only offered due to a clause in the Irish-mans previous contract.

Lee however has committed himself to Huddersfield for a further year, and his experience could be vital among the squad and from the bench this season.

Simon Grayson spoke to htafc.com:-

It's great Alan will continue with us; he's a great influence in the changing room and he gives us a different type of option in attack with his physical presence and aerial ability.

'He also has good experience of the Championship and I have no doubt he will help some of his younger teammates adapt to the challenges this division will bring.'

Alan Lee has since stated that he will be pressing for a starting slot and that he isn't here to just make up the numbers!

It's a great attitude to have, however if rumoured targets such as McCormack or Austin come to fruition I think we will see Lee drop down the pecking order somewhat.

mixed opinions on this signing - what do you think?

Doesnt get enough goals to merit another contract imo.Yes he roughs up defenders, and has managed the odd match winning performance when weve had our backs to the wall, but overall, could have done better.
