Town appoint new head physio James Haycock

Huddersfield Town have appointed James Haycock as the club's new first team physio, and he joins the Terriers from Hartlepool where he has held a similar role since 2006.

Haycock has previously worked for the Newcastle United Academy & the England Futsal team plus a variety of athletes whilst with the English Institute of Sport.

Haycock has a degree in Physiotherapy as well as a Master's degree in Manipulative Therapy, making him a specialist in the treatment of joint and soft tissue problems. This year he expects to complete a second Master's degree in Sports Medicine.

Haycock spoke to htafc.com about his appointment:-

'Huddersfield is a big Club. I've been here with Hartlepool on numerous occasions and I've always been impressed, so this is a great opportunity for me to work at a higher level of football. This Club has real potential and is going places, so I'm delighted to be here.

I have a chance to develop my side of things here and push it on to a Championship standard - and beyond. We want the medical department to be as good as is feasible and that's exciting.

The bit of my job that supporters see on a Saturday is not my main function, although it is important. The real work goes into the players in the weeks and months leading up to the games to try and prevent injuries and as such the relationship with the management and fitness team is so important.

I'm really looking forward to meeting all the players. I've spoken to the staff here already about the pre-season programme and what lies ahead and the obvious aim is to get the lads as fit as they can be without picking up too many niggles.'

Welcome aboard James, hopefully he can keep this group fit for the season.

The only injury concern as the players reported back was Scott Arfield and a 2-3 week recovery time has been set.
