Gerrard Joins Grayson's Town Revolution

Anthony Gerrard has agreed a 3 year deal with Huddersfield Town with the official fee undisclosed but expected to be around the £300-350k mark.

Gerrard completed his medical and arrives at Huddersfield Town after being frozen out at Cardiff City, ironically he will be making a quick return trip as The Terriers visit on the opening day live on Sky Friday 17th August.

Gerrard will provide competition at center back with Peter Clarke, Joel Lynch and Murray Wallace all vying for those positions and with Tom Clarke, Antony Kay & Jamie McCombe all still at the club Town are certainly bustling with options at the back at the moment.

Gerrard who is 6'2' fits Simon Grayson's bill as an experienced Championship player who has a point to prove.

Gerrard spent the 2010/11 season on loan with Hull and won the clubs 'Player of the Year' award after falling out of favour at Cardiff. He did manage to make 75 appearances in total for the Welsh side before joining Town.

Simon Grayson commented on htafc.com:-

'We`re delighted to welcome Anthony to Huddersfield, because we`ve worked very hard to seal his signature amid a lot of competition from other clubs'

"He has a real hunger to succeed too, as Cardiff has deemed him surplus to requirements. He`s shown he can perform very well at the top end of the Championship over the last few years and he`ll do well for us.

The centre back department is vital for any team and I think we have fantastic competition for places and depth now when you add Anthony to the likes of Joel, Peter and Murray."

The signing probably rules Huddersfield out of any move for Reading defender Sean Morrison, unless we see some serious outgoings in terms of personell.

It also probably spells the end of Huddersfield Town career's for Antony Kay and Jamie McCombe with many surprised that they are still at the club!
