Huddersfield Town could be set to break their season budget, as chairman Dean Hoyle bids to ensure the Terriers maintain their Championship status.
The loan window re-opened on Thursday, and whilst no in comings have happened ahead of the Cardiff City game, the owner has said if the right deal is possible then the club will try and do it.
Huddersfield are of course in the process of searching for a new manager, and won't be rushed on any decision, will back caretaker manager team Mark Lillis & Steve Eyre in the transfer market.
The Terriers have recruited 12 new players either permanently or on loan since the play-off final victory over Sheffield United, but with injuries hitting the thread bare squad hard, Hoyle will spend as he believes Huddersfield must stay in the division.
Hoyle was quoted as saying in the examiner:-
'We are up to our budget in terms of recruitment for this season'
"But you can`t account for injuries, and in the space of the last two matches, we have lost two of our four strikers'
"That`s clearly a major problem, and if the right players become available in whatever position, we will fund their recruitment, because we have to stay in this division."
Huddersfield also have Danny Ward, Keith Southern, Peter Clarke, Oliver Norwood, Joel Lynch on the treatment table, although Lynch & Norwood are not serious and could be in contention for the Cardiff game.
