Transfer Targets but Patience required

Transfer Targets but Patience required

Huddersfield Town are working hard in the transfer market, but patience is required!

The club are working hard on deals but chief executive Nigel Clibbens has revealed that it could be the end of the month before there are any new faces to parade around in the famous blue & white of Huddersfield Town.

Clibbens puts the new Financial Fair Play rule, which limits losses without penalty to £4m, and the general economic climate, at the forefront of business being so quiet.

Clibbens believes that things will liven up as the pre-season draws near and with current contracts expiring on July 1st.

Added to the that the holiday season is here and with players away, clubs aren't overly keen to spend and pay wages for players who will be doing nothing; Instead preferring to wait until nearer pre-season training starting so they can see some instant reward for expenditure.

With the exception of the former Premier League clubs on parachute payments, most clubs are having to cap or cut their budgets.

Clubs who are wanting to sell players are also waiting to see if any better offers are around the corner with their being no real pressure to sell at this stage!

It is well reported that Huddersfield's top transfer target is James Vaughan. Derby are reportedly out of the running after turning their attention to one time Town target Johnny Russell.

It is worth noting that Huddersfield return for pre-season training on June 27th - So we could expect some news around then!

For now, sit back & relax and enjoy the summer rumur mill. It's churning that's for sure!
