Huddersfield sign Hogg from Watford

JONATHAN HOGG has joined Championship side Huddersfield Town from divisional rivals Watford for an undisclosed fee.

The 24 year old box-to-box midfielder has signed a three year contract after completing the formalities earlier today.

Huddersfield have the option of a fourth year as part of the contract for a player who has Premier League experience with Aston Villa and was part of the Watford side who were beaten in last seasons Championship Play-Off Final.

Town boss Mark Robins told the club website:

'Jonathan's arrival is an important one and we're delighted we've been able to bring him in.

'Jonathan is a northern lad and when we learned he was looking to move nearer home, we acted very quickly to secure his signature. I know Watford were very reluctant to see him leave after he was so key to them last year.

'He is a different kind of midfield player to the ones we have at the club. We have a lot of talented ball players here, but Jonathan has an abundance of energy and can do everything you want from an all-round midfield player.'

Hogg's career started with Middlesbrough, his hometown team, before moving to Aston Villa at youth team level. Hogg made 6 appearances for Villa as well as loan spells with Darlington & Portsmoyth before joining Watford in 2011 for 400k and made a total of 78 appearances for the Hornets with 41 of those coming last season as they failed to escape the Championship via the play-offs.
