Clarke Drops Hint Towards Terriers Departure

Peter Clarke dropped the largest hint that he could be set to depart the Terriers after 5 relatively successful years.

The club captain, whose children were the mascots for the final home game of the season, spoke to the clubs Official Site after the two nil home defeat to Champions Leicester, Clarke said:-

"I would like to thank the fans from the bottom of my heart for the support I`ve had here for five years, I have thoroughly enjoyed every minute of my time here and I will leave with some fantastic memories.

"It`s been a long week, I`ve spent three days with food poisoning so just to get through and play the game was a bonus really. I`ve been very fortunate to spend five years as captain of this Club, I`m immensely proud."

"I`ve always said I want to play for as long as I can and that`s no different, we`ll see what happens in the close season, there`s still plenty of football left in me and I want to play for as long as I can because you`re a long time retired and you can`t beat playing football on Saturday at 3pm."

Clarke is not the only player whose deal is running down although as Mark Robins recently called for experienced heads to be signed in the summer are Huddersfield shooting themselves in the foot allowing Clarke to leave on a free?

he has been a fantastic servant, you dont get many players hanging around at one club for so long now a days, obviously age is catching and pace is an attribute that is lacking now for Clarke, but his passion & commitment to the cause will mean he is fondly remembered by all
