Late Hammill Winner In Sheffield

Adam Hammill netted a late winner for The Terriers as they ran out 1-0 winners at Bramall Lane in this evenings friendly match.

United started the game stronger of the two with the Blades causing problems for Town's back line, but The Terriers finished the half strongly and should have entered half time with a lead following a glorious chance for Nahki Wells in the 40th minute, Norwood and Wells having other chances of note in the first half watched by 4,111 supporters.

Clayton, who was playing in an advanced role for Town, had recovered from his knock at Scunthorpe and was pulling the strings for Town as they created numerous chances but it took the introduction of new signing Radoslaw Majewski to help Town make the breakthrough.

Just 6 minutes after his introduction as a substitute he exchanged passes with Adam Hammill on the edge of the area, Majewski's resulting strike was cleared off the line but Hammill was on-hand following in to bundle the ball home as the home defence froze.

Robins brought on Tommy Smith for Hammill to sure up the result, but there was also a cameo 10 minute appearance from Joe Lolley, who replaced Sean Scannell who had been operating as a striker alongside Wells. Lolley who is an all action player was involved and went close to a goal himself.

Town perhaps could have won this game by more than the solitary goal but the workout was a good one, and something to take forward into the next fixture at Oldham.

Majewski himself was unlucky not to mark his debut with a goal, dragging a shot narrowly wide, but an assist inside 6 minutes isn't bad when you consider he had only just met the squad mere moments before kick off!!
