Hogg Returns Home With Neck Fracture

Hogg Returns Home With Neck Fracture

Huddersfield Town have given an update on the injury sustained by midfielder Jonathan Hogg in the game against Bristol City.

Having suffered the eighth minute injury as he collided with colleague Mark Hudson, originally it looked pretty innocuous but the worry of fans soon hit as the player stayed down and then went under lengthy treatment on the pitch.

Having been taken to Bristol Royal Infirmary, further investigations confirmed that the player has suffered a fracture within his cervical spine ergo his neck.

He was released from hospital on Saturday following further observations and clearly his season is over, but aside from the fracture Huddersfield explained that investigations had shown that there was no significant trauma to the associated soft tissues so it's very much a case of fingers crossed that there will be a full recovery and he will be back on the pitch with us in what I imagine would be the medium to long term future.

There is no timescale given so far, which makes sense, for a potential return but having remained conscious and aware of the situation following the injury and his time in hospital, clearly that is certainly very good news so the risk of immediate danger doesn't feature as an issue for the club.

Obviously the club places on record its thanks to the staff at the hospital, and also very importantly Bristol City's own medical staff and at the ground for their extremely quick response to matters as well.

Good luck Hoggy and hopefully it won't be too long at all before you're ready to return.
