Huddersfield Announce Third Signing Of the Day

Huddersfield Announce Third Signing Of the Day

Danny Williams becomes the third player to join Huddersfield Town today the club have announced on the Official Site

Williams is of course a familiar face to Town fans having joined the club from beaten Play-Off final opponents Reading.

The 28 year-old had seen his contract expire this summer with the Royals and despite their desire to keep the USA international at the Madejski, Williams chose to move to pastures new in search of Premier League football with Huddersfield Town.

Williams joins on a free transfer signing a two year deal with the club

Head Coach David Wagner spoke to the clubs Official Site about the move:-

"As our fans will have seen during the Play-Off Final, Danny brings a lot of quality to any team he plays for. His way of playing - his aggressiveness, tenacity and athleticism - fits our 'Terriers Identity` perfectly.

"It is not usual that a player of Danny`s ability is available on a free transfer, so there was understandably a lot of interest from clubs.

"When we spoke, it was clear that he wants to prove himself at the highest level in England and that he had a real desire to come and play for Huddersfield Town. He is a terrific character and will totally fit in with our group.

"Together with our existing players and the arrival of Aaron Mooy, Danny offers us really good competition for places in central midfield."

The signing of Williams has been rumoured by many adding 2 & 2 together since the play final, but Williams does fit the Terrier mould very well and adds depth to the defensive midfield positions at the club.

He provides cover and competition for Jonathan Hogg but also would form a formidable duo at away games where our backs maybe expected to be against the wall.

What a great day, Tom Ince, Kasey Palmer and now Danny Williams. You are all very warmly welcomed to Huddersfield Town.
