Dean Whitehead Accepts New Huddersfield Contract

Dean Whitehead Accepts New Huddersfield Contract

Dean Whitehead signs new Huddersfield Town contract.

The midfielder was out of contract at the conclusion of the season and with many expecting Whitehead to perhaps move on, following interest in the midfielder from Rotherham and Wigan during the January transfer window, Huddersfield repaid their faith in the experienced veteran by offering him a new one year contract following their promotion to the Premier League.

It has taken some time from the offer to get the deal signed, but Whitehead will now remain a Terrier for one more season with his new contract set to run until the end of the Premier League season.

Head coach David Wagner spoke to the clubs Official Site about the new deal

"After the Play-Off Final I had an honest and open conversation with Dean about the Premier League and his role in our team.

"We shared our thoughts on what we both expect from the upcoming season and agreed that even if he plays less for us, he is still a very important part of the team and our dressing room.

"I am very happy that he will be at this club for a further season; he is a true professional and a really good character."

The club also announced the news on Twitter with many tweets of Deanooooooo!! doing the rounds right now as we speak !

So go and congratulate @442Dean on extending his deal with the Terriers on Twitter now !
