Huddersfield Prepared for Premier League

The Terriers kick off their Premier League adventure at Crystal Palace this weekend, with everyone writing off their chances of survival.

Perhaps not realising that this in fact plays right into the hands of David Wagner and his men as the team sets itself no limits.

Huddersfield were of course last seasons surprise package in the Championship but anyone who is a fan of the club would have seen the work ethic Wagner had instilled in a group of players the previous season, and after a busy summer recruitment process, of which a lot of the signings were used to winning things and many of them former captains of their respective clubs, Wagner had changed the game at Huddersfield instilling players with belief and a habit of winning.

That season culminated in the epic penalty shootout win over Reading at Wembley, thus giving Huddersfield this crack at the Premier League.

Wagner has not rested on his laurels, firstly committing his future to the club and that of his assistant Christophe Butler too, before splashing the cash in a dreams could only believe this fashion, the club breaking its transfer record several times as Wagner sought to bring in all his new faces early, a trait we witnessed last season, and we all know how that panned out!

Huddersfield had relied heavily on the loan market last season and that left a lot of gaps to be plugged in the squad, the recruitment has been admiral so far with most Terriers fans happy that gaps in the squad have been plugged for example the capture of Steve Mounie and Laurent Depoitre certainly provide Huddersfield with a more physical frontman.

Tom Ince is perhaps the best business buy of the summer window, arriving from Derby, he will add not only goals and assists but the flair that Wagner likes to see, after all the game is supposed to be entertaining.

Pundits and betting companies alike may well write off Huddersfield Town, but underestimate the ultimate underdog and it will come back to bite you.
