Instant Reactions - West Brom v Huddersfield (24/2/18)

Following today's clash between West Bromwich Albion and Huddersfield Town, here are the instant reactions from both managers.

West Bromwich Albion hosted Huddersfield Town at St Mary's Stadium for a 3pm kick off on Saturday February 24, with the visitors taking all three points in a two one victory.

After a goalless first half Rajiv van La Parra scored minutes after the half time restart and Steve Mounie doubled their advantage in the 56th minute.

West Brom hit back through Craig Dawson just after the hour mark, but they couldn't muster a comeback and the remain adrift at the bottom of the table.

West Brom:

Foster, Dawson, Hegazi, Evans, Gibbs, Phillips (Burke 81), Barry (Livermore 69), Krychowiak, McClean (Brunt 57), Rodriguez, Rondon.

Nyom, Yacob, Myhill, McAuley.

Lossl, Hadergjonaj (Smith 53), Jorgensen, Schindler, Kongolo, Williams, Hogg, Quaner, Pritchard (Depoitre 77), van La Parra (Ince 89), Mounie.

Malone, Whitehead, Sabiri, Coleman.

Speaking to the BBC's cameras a short time after match day referee Jonathan Moss blew the final whistle, West Bromwich Albion head coach Alan Pardew explained.

'I think it is three wins in 37 games. It is a problem, we just have to find a way to win a game, however ugly it is. It was certainly ugly today. I was disappointed with the performance. We worked hard this week and looked good going into the game but it wasn't reflected in the game. Huddersfield knock you out of any rhythm with the way they play and it was a bitty game. We didn't really have any passages of play. We have two or three flair players missing but we should have had enough to beat Huddersfield really.'

Huddersfield Town head coach David Wagner in his comparative interview explained.

'We said this before, it wasn't a six-pointer but it was a massive game for us and the players showed everything - fighting spirit and attitude. It was a final for both teams, we won it and of course I am delighted and happy for the supporters, the players and staff. We expected they would be on the front foot. We overcame the first 10 minutes without us conceding a goal. After that it was open, we scored two wonderful goals and kept them as far as possible from our goal.'
