'If It's Football, It's Vital'

Andy ain't gonna make it

It looks like Andy Ritchie's debut at the Galpharm, on Saturday against Millwall, will not include the other Andy, Mr Booth.

He is struggling to overcome a groin injury which flared in the 2-0 defeat by leaders Scunthorpe.

'I think we will probably be without Boothy this weekend,' said Ritchie.

'Andy has a long-standing stomach and groin problem which flares up every now and again and that was certainly the case on Saturday.

'My thinking at the moment is to give him a rest this weekend and hopefully we'll have him back for the following Friday's trip to Northampton.'

Gary Taylor-Fletcher is back in full training and he was joined yesterday by Andy Holdsworth, who looks like being fit to return at right-back.

Town play Birmingham reserves today and are to include John McAliskey and 'tosh', Ritchie explained: 'Martin McIntosh is playing because he is one of the lads who is out of contract in the summer and I need to have a look at him.

'He wants to play the whole game, but he'll be in the senior squad on Saturday.'

Vital view - At 33yrs of age we really can only expect Boothy to be a sometimes striker.
Martin McIntosh is even older, it will be interesting to see if he is handed a contract for next season by Ritchie, perhaps the Frank Sinclair deal will influence the decision, Sinclair is another veteran of course.
