Kamara comes to Town

Andy Ritchie has added 23-year old winger Malvin Kamara to his squad.

Sierra Leone international Kamara comes to Town after a short spell at Port Vale last season and has put pen to paper on a contract that will see him stay at the Galpharm until the summer of 2009.

'I'm very happy that we've signed Malvin', said Andy. 'We've had to keep it under wraps for a few weeks due to his international commitments with Sierra Leone and my holiday, but we've got the medical done now and I'm very pleased.

'He's going to be a big asset to the Club. He's very strong and he's exactly what I was looking for. Hopefully he will excite the fans here. Probably the major criticism of him is that he hasn't reached the level of consistency that he should do but he's at a good age (23) and we will work with him to reach that consistency.

'He plays mainly on the right-hand side but he has played on the left and up-front, which is a bonus. At the end of the season I talked about the lack of pace in the side and I think we have redressed this with the signings we have made; Frank Sinclair has bags of pace and experience at the back just like Danny Cadamarteri has at the front, whereas Malvin might not have that experience but he certainly has the pace!

'I'm very excited. Malvin can open up defences and he will cause problems with the attributes he brings.'

'I'm always looking to add to the squad and if something comes up that is too good to turn down, then I will try to twist the Boards' arm. They've been very good to me and they've allowed me to have a bigger squad than we had initially planned for.'

Kamara had played for MK Dons, for three years, Cardiff and Port Vale last season (6 months each), making in total 59(63) appearances and scoring 8 goals.

What are your thoughts on this signing ?

Why did Cardiff and Vale both let him go after six months ?
