The F.A have upheld the one match ban imposed on Huddersfield Town keeper Matt Glennon for the Red Card he received against Southend in midweek. Despite the player who he was judged to have brought down (Leon Clarke) writing to the panel to support Glennon, stating that he was not brought down by the terriers shot stopper but slipped.
No doubt the F.A are not wanting to set a precedent. Let's face it players could fraudulently support each other in such cases. Not that I think that was the intention in this case.
Frank Sinclair has received a four match ban for his red card, his second this season and third in his short Huddersfield Town career.
This leaves manager Andy Ritchie with a selection problem ahead of the Leeds United match.
Glennon's replacement takes care of itself, as the terriers only have young Smithies available as Eastwood is still not fit.
So no keeper on the bench for this match.
Sinclairs exclusion from the game at the same time as Glennons is a big loss and Ritchie may consider changing his four man defence to a five man unit, and/or including a defensive minded midfield player to give both the reshuffled back line and the inexperienced Smithies more cover.
However new tactics, personnel and strategies introduced before big games can and do frequently go horribly wrong.
Just ask Steve McClaren
Decisions such as these are what managers get paid for, and I think we will know a lot more about Andy Ritchie the manager come 3pm tomorrow.
(Remember it's a midday kick off)
