Andy Ritchie declared after the Huddersfield Town defeat 3-1 at the Galpharm by Gillingham, that 'we've not turned up today'
That is a great shame because following last weeks victory over premiership Birmingham City, the Galpharm was host to 11,212 (277 visitors) fans, the biggest attendance for a league game this season. Helped by the £5 admission for this game, which has doubtless attracted fans to the ground, as has the publicity from the FA Cup victory.
But as usual the side squander yet another opportunity to recruit a few more galpharm regulars, new or lapsed, as commited Huddersfield fans.
Why is it that when the fans turn up the team in Ritchies own words invariable don't ?
Vital Huddersfield do not propose to dwell too much on what we witnessed at the Galpharm today, that was yet another inadequate display, that in truth has become depressingly familiar.
Town started the game with the 4-4-1-1 formation employed against Birmingham.
The recently restored to the side Chris Brandon scored again, putting Huddersfield ahead, but replies from Mulligan twice and terrier old boy Delroy Facey saw the gills through to an easy victory. The visitors even finishing the game with only ten men when Miller was sent off close to the final whistle.
Gillingham have now gone above the terriers in FL1.
The next game is away at Brighton in a weeks time, but it is almost certain that the next time the side play a game at the Galpharm, will see the crowds back down to the low levels seen for most of the season, of between eight and nine thousand.
What now for Huddersfield Town, Andy Ritchie, Ken Davy, and the under performing players ?
I doubt things can carry on as they are at the moment for much longer, the side now hovering just above the relegation places in FL1.
Let us have your take on the current situation.
