Port Vale come to the Galpharm, in what could be seen as an early end of season clash, both sides are relatively safe from a relegation threat and sadly barring a miracle from on high will not be involved in the play off's
Gerry Murphy (ever the optimist) - 'We're not far off (Vale & Play Off's) and I'm very hopeful.'
and
'Vale and Akpo (Sodje) have gone together like a horse and carriage, they've been fantastic'
Sinclair is banned after his red card at Brighton, and so Martin McIntosh completes his return to the first team fold after his exclusion by Peter Jackson, by making his first start since being told by Jackson he would not play for the club again.
Andy Holdsworth is still only possible after his knock at Brighton, Hardy and as usual the two Clarkes are injured.
Andy Taylor is expected to replace Joe Skarz
This game looks like it could have some goals in it, with a potentially weakened opposition back four, I'm looking for Boothy to capitalise
Left-back Jason Talbot starts a 5-match ban after his red card against Millwall and will probably be replaced by Colin Miles - who really is a centre-half. Centre-half Michael Walsh may be back - if not Mark McGregor will continue to partner George Pilkington in central defence.
The midfield and attack has remained unchanged for the past 6/7 games.
Town's former player recently scored four against Rotherham and not only is he currently in form, but like all players visiting a former club, he would love to score against us.
Town beat Vale in the reverse fixture in October coming from one down to win 2-1. Whilst Town are three games unbeaten since Murphy took temporary charge, Vale have won three drawn one and lost one this month. But by all accounts Port Vale are playing their best football of the season, creating lots of chances and scoring a lot of goals !
The bookies have odds of 6/5 Town win, 9/4 draw, and 7/4 Vale win, meaning it could go any which way. I believe both sides will want the three points and can see goals in the game, I predict a draw at 2-2.
Next Saturday April 7th Away at high flying Oldham
