HTFC - Town go out with a wimper
The New Den
May 18th 2010
Huddersfield Town blew their chance of a chance of promotion via the play-off final this season, and they can only have themselves to blame
Lee Clark kept faith with the side that had held Millwall to a bore draw at the Galpharm, with the exception of Robbie Williams who stepped in for the injured Tom Clarke.
However the night wasn't to be for Town as Millwall sealed their place in this seasons play-off final with goals in either half of the game.
Millwall's top-scorer Steve Morison put the Lions ahead in the 23rd minute after Town keeper Alex Smithies could only parry Danny Schofield's cross from the right directly into his path.
Things didn't look great for Town from then on as Millwall went on to have several opportunities to extend their lead, as the Town players simply lacked the desire and work rate to compete this evening.
Scott Barron then hit the woodwork for the Lions midway through the second period with Smithies well beaten and soon after Paul Robinson headed home a second with eight minutes remaining to book Millwall's place in the play-off final.
Millwall will now go on to face Swindon in the final, whilst Huddersfield and Lee Clark must go back to the drawing board and solve the problems that we all know exist!
At fault for the first goal and that goal ended the night effectively
Worked hard, but no end product a few nice overlaps and crosses early on
Caught out of position for the first, but to be fair a decent show from Williams
Lead by example just a shame none of the others watched him
Muscled out of it, and could be seen by his frustration, one key challenge on Morison was impressive
Please dont let him be here next season, his passing is atrocious.
Ran hard, and chased everything down but wasnt helped out by the rest of midfield
Wasn't in the game for long periods, and had little impact in creating anything
Early booking, and another poor show from Pilks, must do better
Not a single chance for Jordan, no service provided for him
Worked his socks off, caught offside the most of any Town player
Provided some willing running, but again no chances fell his way
Looked like he was up for the game but had no time to getinvolved
Came on late and to be fair put in some good tackles
