Nahki Wells scored a stoppage time free-kick to salvage a point for playoff chasing Huddersfield after Danny Graham put Rovers ahead.

Town had the chance to climb third with a win against Blackburn on New Years Eve infront of another 20,000+ crowd at the John Smith's Stadium.

Huddersfield as usual, started on the front foot, and could've been ahead as early as in the first minute.

Jason Steele made an excellent double save, first stopping Rajiv Van La Parra's effort and then pushing away a fierce overhead kick from Kasey Palmer.

Micheal Hefele then headed wide a driven cross from Aaron Mooy before Van La Parra whipped a lovely ball into the box for Wells, whose flicked header was easy for Steele.

The pressure from Town was building by the minute, Elias Kachunga drove at the resilient Rovers defence before supplying Wells but his effort sailed over the bar.

Wells then turned provider for Kachunga with a neat through ball, but once again, Jason Steele was equal to the German's shot.

In the 32nd minute, Micheal Hefele's pass through to Kachunga split the Blackburn defence, he picked out Wells who tried to squeeze it in under the keeper, but Steele just about managed to keep it out.

The Lancashire side did have a chance before the break - albeit a half one as Gallagher broke at the defence and squared for Graham, but the ball evaded the striker.

In the second half, Town brought on Jack Payne and Harry Bunn for Palmer and Van La Parra in an attempt to break the deadlock, but the final pass was proving the be the problem for the Terriers.

Lwe saw his free-kick palmed away by Steele, before Smith fired wide of the target. Then Wells was unable to feed in Bunn as frustration was beginning to kick in for the home side.

With ten minutes to go, completely against the run of play, Blackburn went ahead. A free-kick was curled into the area, Sam Gallagher seemed to have hold of Lwe before laying it off to Feeney who crossed deep, and Danny Graham was first to react in the area as he headed past Ward.

But Huddersfield didn't have time to feel sorry for themselves and pushed hard for the equalizer, Elliot Bennett fouled Jack Payne on the edge of the box in injury time to give Town one final opportunity.

Wells strolled up and calmly bent the ball over the wall, leaving Steele with no chance, as he watched it nestle in the top left corner.

The spoils were shared in the end after another dominating display from the home side. Blackburn stay in the bottom three after failing to keep Huddersfield out, whilst Town stay 4th.
