how we lost this ill never know, 2-0 up and cruising, same old jekyl and hyde Town performance
Terrier24
One thing we learned on Saturday is that poor old Graham Carey is not a left back.Fortunatly the lad Naysmith will be back for the charlton game,so in that respect theres no need to hit the panic button too hard.We wernt doing all that bad till Carey predictably got himself booked, after looking well out of his comfort zone. After the booking he looked terrified to get a foot in,and other players were being pulled out of position to cover for him. That lost us our shape and played a big part in opening the door for peterborough, their right back little in particular taking full advantage. With the ref, having little option but to,brandish cards, yellow card fever seemed to spread from Carey to McCombe, and then quickly throughout the back four. The trademark shirt tugging and pulling back, by McCombe all but disapeared, and his man,the pacey mickhael-smith was able to run through at will relatively un impeded.Another thing learned is that without the ability to hold back his man when holding a high line McCombe gets done for pace. For my money if clark had taken carey off when it was obvious he was struggling, and certainly once he had been carded,we would have gone on to win the game.Clark eventualy made the obvious substitution, taking off Carey for Roberts.Later on when it was too late he freshened up what was fast becomming a lethargic and somewhat disjointed front line taking of rhodes who didnt look all that interested.Too little too late as regards substitutions for me. Theres nothing wrong with the players, clark needs to wise up and get his act together when things start going wrong, speed up his decision making, and make better use of his subs.Until he does were going nowhere fast.Felt sorry for Smities after he uncarachteristicaly let in the soft first goal, you could see it got to him,and im not totaly sure he got his concentration back, although he did manage to pull of some top drawer saves .The one that went in via a deflection was particularly harsh on the lad. charlton Saturday,3 point are a must,or were in trouble.

Smithies, what can I say. That let them back into the game. From some mates who went down they said Carey did OK, and from the replays P Clarke was at fault for the 1st (to begin with as he dropped too deep playing Boyd onside before alex messed it up) and 4th where he just missed the ball completely Nathan-esque
Impact
Yeh,pretty much thats the way it was Impact.Smithies stayed rooted to his line, far too often throughout the game as well for my likeing .Still cant help feelling that the 1st goal did his head in,whether it was seeing the clean sheet record slip away so cheaply or what, only he knows.Certainly a day to forget for all concerned, and 3 points chucked away cheaply.clark needs to reshuffle on saturday, and give the lads who have been warming the bench so patiently their chance to shine.Lee Croft looked very dangerous when he eventually got his chance of the bench, and deserves a start on Saturday on that showing.Gary Roberts looked keen to make amends when he came off the bench, and on the strength of that you might say deserves his shirt back.He was a tad unfortunate when he burst into the box from the left late on,to see his curled shot hit the upright and bounce out with the keeper well beaten.clarke has been banging on about all the competition for places hes got for months.Nows the time to use it or loose it.We were out of sorts and under achievers at carlisle, and after this performance,we need wholesale changes, keeping things as they are for the charlton game will send all the wrong messages to the squad, the ones with the shirts and the ones without.

Hopefully we can pick it up for tomorrow's trip to Goodison.
Impact
The cup would be a good time to make changes to the starting line up Impact. If the changes work then clarke could pick the same team again against charlton and they would have had a free game as it were to gel.If they done he could go back more or less to the squad he had before, having sent a potent statement of intent to the present starting 11.To me the cup isnt important, whats paramount is getting out of this division.Take the money and run on Wednesday, back to the league on Saturday, and those all important next 3 points against charlton.! We have the players, does our manager have what it takes?
80s terrier
welcome back 80's (again) cant disagree with anything you've said there :) same with Impact, at least its only early in the season!!!
Terrier24
Thanks for that 24.
